a. Technical Working Group spearheaded by Ms. Girlie Sarmiento, Officer-in -charge, Natural Products Division, DTI-CITEM with the objective of helping the spa industry grow. Other members were: Board of Investments, Department of Tourism, Peace & Equity Foundation, Department of Health, PITAHC, Philippine Trade Training Center, PCHRD.
b. Attended DOST meeting (October 2004) to look at building the essential oil industry in the Philippines.

STANDARDIZATION OF SPA QUALITY
October 12, 2004 – Ms. Kate Rodrigo, Chairman for Ethics & Standards submitted the SAPI Standards of Practice which was the basis for the formulation of Good Spa Practice (GSP)
Status: awaiting approval from members
October 12, 2004 – amended rules and regulations governing accreditation of spa establishments was submitted by the Technical Working Group at the integration meeting at CITEM
January 3, 2005 – Final draft of Revised Rules and Regulations Governing Accreditation of Spa Establishments was submitted at the Department of Tourism (courtesy of Ms. Kate Rodrigo, Chairman for Ethics & Standards)
April 19, 2005 – comments from Department of Tourism was received.
